As the collaboration with Martha Sear on You Are Loved worked so well, I asked her if she would contribute words to a melody that I had, so working the other way around this time. It was during the Morrison Bushfires of 2019. The fires were surrounding Wollongong and both my daughters were trapped within fire zones on the south coast of NSW with no communication. What a fucking nightmare. I felt I needed to write a song about it. To watch Morrison’s smug, pathetic grin as he did nothing to help during that time was excruciating….and as I write, it still is. Let’s hope that when this is being read, things will be better and our transition to renewables will be well under way.
